Let’s face it: personal revelation can feel elusive, confusing, or even a little weird to talk about—especially with teens. But that’s exactly why it’s so important. Helping youth recognize how the Spirit speaks to them is one of the most powerful things we can do as leaders.
Make It Normal You don’t need a thunderbolt moment or a burning bush. Most revelation comes quietly—through thoughts, impressions, and a sense of peace. Reassure your youth that not feeling fireworks doesn’t mean they’re doing it wrong.
A Mutual Night Add-On Here’s a 4-minute activity: Give everyone a piece of paper with two columns. On one side, have them write moments they think might have been revelation. On the other, write what followed. Then discuss: Did they feel peace? Did they act? Did it lead to good? Help them build a track record of recognizing the Spirit.
Connect to the Bigger Picture This is discipleship. Teaching personal revelation helps youth grow into the kind of leaders who listen to God. That’s why it’s a central piece of our Forged in Faith LDS youth leadership ideas. You can’t lead others spiritually if you don’t know how to hear Him yourself.
Help your teens explore spiritual strength activities in a way that’s safe, scriptural, and grounded. We’ve got lesson packs and exercises inside our paid program that build on these ideas with depth and structure.
