Forged in Faith – Why did we develop this program and What does it mean to you?

As parents of five boys and a girl, we take our children’s spiritual growth seriously. When the Church officially discontinued the Boy Scouts program from its youth activities, we were eager to find a meaningful way to create an atmosphere where our boys would not only enjoy weeknight activities but also strive toward lofty, faith-centered goals.

Nothing was offered

Unfortunately, as we searched for a program that combined Christ-centered teaching, exciting challenges, and meaningful activities, we found nothing that truly met our expectations. Existing programs often lacked structure, long-term progression, or faith-driven lessons. Some focused solely on recreational activities without deeper purpose, while others had rigid structures that didn’t foster creativity, resilience, or spiritual development in a way that resonated with our children. There seemed to be a gap between what was available and what we knew our children needed.

Weeknight meetings often left our boys feeling disappointed. As they grew older, convincing them to attend became increasingly difficult. Eventually, I couldn’t even justify it to myself. They would return home frustrated after yet another evening of basketball, a random service project, or a dull planning session—activities that, while not inherently bad, lacked depth, intentional skill-building, and transformative experiences. The opportunities to teach essential life skills, instill gospel principles, and foster personal growth seemed to have been forgotten.

After we exhausted our options for a great program, we realized that nothing available met our vision.

There must be a better way

With no hope for better opportunities and no assurance that there would be anything better, we determined to fill this gap. We set out to create something different—a program that would inspire and challenge youth in a way that strengthened their testimonies, encouraged them to develop real-world skills, and helped them build a lifelong foundation of faith. That desire led to the creation of Forged in Faith, a program designed to provide young men and women with experiences that cultivate confidence, resilience, and discipleship.

Our goal is simple: to provide a structured yet flexible framework that engages youth in hands-on learning, spiritual exploration, and personal development. Through exciting challenges, service opportunities, and gospel-centered discussions, we strive to equip the rising generation with the tools they need to become faithful, capable leaders in their homes, communities, and the Church.

Growth and development

We believe that growth comes through challenge, that faith is strengthened through action, and that young people thrive when given the opportunity to work toward something greater than themselves. Whether it’s learning leadership through organizing service projects, developing resilience by overcoming physical and mental challenges, or deepening their testimonies through scripture-based goal setting, we have seen firsthand how meaningful experiences shape strong, faithful individuals. Forged in Faith is more than just a program—it is a journey of discovery, a path to discipleship, and a commitment to building a generation prepared to stand firm in their beliefs while navigating the complexities of the modern world. We invite you to join us in this challenging but exciting effort to build youth, forge their hearts in faith, and fix their eyes on the glory of God.
